I finally did it…

I finally started that blog I have been wanting to start for years. So… here I am. My name is Katherine (Kat), my pronouns are She/They and I love the outdoors. For years I have been saying that I am going to start a hiking YouTube, or a hiking blog, or a hiking Instagram and so on and so forth so I can hopefully one day get paid to do what I love, and yet it took me 22 years to start this.

Why?

The idea of putting myself out there for people to scrutinize and judge has always been something I was scared of. What will people think if I start a blog or a YouTube?? Won’t people laugh at me if it fails? I haven’t even hiked that much how can I start a blog?! Well, if this pandemic has made me fully understand anything it’s that life is too short to not follow your dreams (I know so cliché!) so here I am.

I hope to use this blog space to keep track of my journeys, as most of my friends and family know, I have a terrible memory! I also hope to share the trails I have been on with others so they can see what it is like and give it a shot.

This summer (2021) I am planning to hike the Highland Backpacking trail in Algonquin Provincial Park with two of my dearest friends, and La Cloche Silhouette Trail in Killarney Provincial Park solo. I currently own the worlds heaviest 4-person tent and a Jansport school backpack so you will also get to join me in my hunt for affordable and quality backpacking gear over the next month.

I hope whoever is reading this (who knows, it could just be me) is as excited as I am for the journey I am going on, and hopefully you’ll stay along for a few miles.
